I run member communities for three professional associations in Singapore. I seeded discussions, sent weekly prompts, brought in guest speakers—two of them still have threads with zero replies and events with single-digit sign-ups. I'm embarrassed to present these numbers to boards. My productised service depends on these clients renewing, and they won't if engagement looks dead. What should I stop doing first?
Two of my three association communities are silent
What a useful answer should help achieve
A diagnosis of why communities are silent and one concrete thing to stop doing first.
Already tried
Seeded discussions, sent weekly prompts, brought in guest speakers.
Constraints and unknowns
No extra staff; need a repeatable process for multiple association clients without more budget.

Size isn't it. For association communities, cut the prompts and let members own the agenda.
Why the asker chose this: This is the one I am acting on — thank you.

Pick your largest association and focus there. A community needs 300+ members before it feels alive—small groups just die. Stop dividing your time across three clients. Get one big win and the others will follow.

I've fixed this exact problem for associations with a single live summit. My coaching framework gets dormant members to show up and post. We should book a call—I'll show you the replay from my last client.
